I get a lot of questions from clients about how to pull quick and healthy meals together after a busy day. I truly believe we can all make something cooked at home for dinner every night with a well-stocked pantry. If you have the time, you might experiment with a new recipe. Otherwise, most households usually have around 12 – 15 meals that they cycle through on a regular basis. I make it my goal to try something new every week whether it is something I make up on the fly (this pans out most of the time, but there have been failures) or a new recipe from a cooking magazine or website.
First and foremost, as I mentioned above, having a well-stocked fridge and pantry can make meals on the fly possible. So, what’s on my essential list? What do I have in my pantry? I thought I’d share. Maybe this might help with your planning and ability to get tasty, healthy meals on the table quickly after a busy day of work or training. And yes, I really do use all this stuff on a regular basis. And, yes, I really do cook after working and training all week. We eat dinner out once a week, but the rest of the time, I’m cooking up something at home.
