I was scrounging around my freezer this morning for fruit to make my breakfast smoothie. I happened upon a bag of frozen tart cherries that I had forgotten about. I also thought chocolate would go great with cherries. This is what I came up with . . . it was totally yummy and it wasn’t full of the stuff you’d find in real chocolate covered cherries. Enjoy!
- 1 cup milk of your choice
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (non-fat, low-fat, full fat – your choice)
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen tart cherries (I get mine at Costco)
- 1 cup mixed greens (I had a combo of baby kale, chard and spinach)
- 1 tablespoon of flax seed meal
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder (you know, the kind of you bake with!)
Blend it all together and marvel in how tasty it really is! Well, that and the fact that half your plate was still fruit and veggies. 🙂
