What Is Wellness Coaching
Athletic coaches have long been recognized for their skills in helping athletes perform at their best. Wellness coaches help people reach their best health and well-being. Professional wellness coaches are trained to help clients develop and implement personal wellness plans.
We help you identify personal reasons for pursuing greater wellness and enhance motivation for the desired behavior change using evidence-based strategies. Wellness coaches are experts in establishing relationships and practicing core coaching skills that assist our clients in identifying values and desires, transforming them into action, and maintaining lasting change over time. We partner in dynamic collaboration with you, respecting you as the expert in your own life, using a strength-based focus and strong grounding in best practice.
During a wellness coaching session, we facilitate you in recognizing past successes and identify obstacles that may be preventing you from making healthy choices now. During this process, you identify a behavior that you want to change, set goals, and break those goals into manageable steps. Wellness coaches provide support, guidance, and accountability along the way.
Wellness coaches do no provide therapy. We are all about the future, not re-visiting the past. We want to help you discover possibilities for your own best self.
Wellness coaches are not personal trainers. We don’t follow you to the gym and “make” you exercise. That’s not to say that some personal trainers may decide to become professional, certified wellness coaches. It’s just that the two titles are not synonymous.
Wellness coaches don’t tell you how to live your life. We will assist you in discovering your passions, strengths, dreams, desires, and values with the intention of designing a vision of your best self. A Wellness Coach helps you design a path to achieve outcomes aligned with that vision.
